the 2010 bowling season is coming quickly to an end and i can't say i will miss it. the end of bowling means the start of picnic season. mixed in with fridayloo,mud volleyball,evansdale days, jesup days and well just name a town put days behind it and you got a party going on. a super big event this summer is melanie and dans wedding. followed by kris & roberts in sept.

last night a special little princess (vella allen) joined our team for the evening. thats linnie dullard,me,vella,deb bloomquist and vellas grandma, (thunder) tammy.

WOW we are half way through and the summer activities are heating up this week end stated with fridayloo, and evansdales "good-ol days" the parade was a wet one but that doesn't stop a bunch of kids looking for the tossed candy teats so with our umbrellas in toe off we trecked to the end of the bock to join the fun.

sat was the worlds largest mudd volleyball tournement. congrats to mindy and ryan and team members good showing you beat out a lot of teams "bumpen ugly." And a big yahoo to "smoken aces" senada,becky and all the team you did a great job of putting last years 1st place team down in 5th.

It's to bad the street dace was canceled,someting about electrcuting the guitar player due to the rain. i hope rodney and the rest of the band "wildcard" got paid anyways.

sunday was the car show and of course we all knew john would walk off with the biggest trophy:)

sat night it was chill time with a fabulas bar-b-que at dan & mels new digs guys everything was awsome.

sunaday was a lazy day i went with mom (grandma to most of you) on one of her YWCA bus trips. along with 52 little old widow ladies, to a lunch and play in dubuque. it was nice hangen with her and she was having a good day (health wise:))

HAPPY EASTER to all our loved ones and thanks for the Ester goodies from our jersey kids. i have had to hide them in the basement (shhhhhh don't tell Dave)till Sunday when Dave is allowed to have chocolate again it is the one thing he gave up for lent, being the good Catholic boy he is LOL.

when the box arrived in the mail it made me forget how upset i was that a bird had pooped on the freshly washed sheets i had hanging on the line:( not complaining though bird poop has got to be a sure sign of spring:)

we will be having friends and family over for dinner at 12 noon followed by an egg hunt for all the little ones and will miss all of you who can't be with us.

after working our tails off for a week and a half replacing the 33 year old green carpets in the bedrooms it was nice to chill with friends and family and enjoy the super bowl. i made two pots of soup, one 15 bean and ham and one bacon and potatoe. also a big batch of chicken wings a veggie tray banana bread, philly chili and chips. linnie brought meat and cheese tray and choclate peanut clusters (made them herself ) and mike supplyed a 4lb jumbo shrimp tray from red lobster. it was fun.

I can't say I'm sorry to see that Jan. is well into it's second half. this week i am keeping busy with the first stages of preparation getting ready for Easter and a visit from two of my favorite people in the whole world. I have been clearing out all the bed rooms and preparing them for new floors. next week i will be putting the house somewhat back together. and redoing the walls in the computer room they need a lot of work. i will be disabling my Internet for a few days ( part of clearing the room. SO hope to have lots of great pics when i return. Hope thechurchinthegrass was a success last night

I snapped this photo of the neighbor and her special needs daughter waiting for the school bus last week before it got really-really cold out this is the third NO SCHOOL. day in a row. last night when i went to bed we were up to 17 inches of snow and 39 yes you heard me right 39 below. lucky for me i have plenty to do right here in my cozy abode.

Here in Iowa we are in the middle of winter and what a winter it is turning out to be. There is absolutely no where left to put the snow. i would love to make my escape. but in all fairness to my honey lamb, i will stay home and make cookies.

To all her children the most satisfiying part of christmas day was watching mom enjoy her great granddaughters. She tried at the family party a week earlier but her grip just wasn't what it should be to hold them without help. on this day she was at home and feeling rested, even though she held each one for at least 15 minutes eash we were close by to asist if need be. it was a good day. we love our mommy so much

wow my first award now I'm a blogger :) thank you ms. Monica.

six things i value: excluding the ones ms. Monica already covered

1. my health, if you have your health you have everything, i don't know who said that but somebody did.

2. my education. It's right up there with health. with an education the world is open to you.

3. the sun it gives us light and keeps us warm. even in the winter when it's cold and the sun is shining i feel better.

4. music, it can stir more emotion in a person then i have the ability to express

5.the freedom to make my own chooses, so many people in this world don't have that most basic of human rights, how sad.

6.the ability to recognize all of the blessings that have been bestowed on me,there have been so many i sometimes feel guilty.

Six things i don't value:

1. tardiness, it's inconsiderate and tells me you think I'm not all the important.

2. fighting, verbal or physical did it really ever accomplish anything ?

3. winter, bet ye didn't see that one coming.

4. uninvited guests, or people who don't call before they stop by. how rude.

5. liver, i know god made it for a reason but I'm pretty sure it wasn't for human consumption.

6. teenagers, they are gods test of faith, with the exception of two and you know who you are.

My bag is packed (carry-on only) with liquids in quart size zip lock bag.

Car rental is confirmed (hotwire gave me their best deal)with Alamo.

Boarding pass printed out and tucked neatly in the front pouch of said carry-on bag.

Snacks,blanket,inflatable pillow, and footie's. are all accounted for.

so bright and early in the morning that handsome hunk pictured above will whisk me off to the

waterloo airport, for my yearly pilgrimage to new Jersey. will return with tons of pictures tucked

away in my camera. waiting to burst froth. till then have a good week.

gooooood morning all.

My first load of laundry is in. my cookies for the amvets aux. bake and craft sale are mixed and ready for the oven. and I've recovered from my bowling defeat. so lets get on with it. thank you Monica lifeonthehilltop for tagging and encouraging me. SEVEN THINGS ABOUT ME

1.)I am the second of 8 children born to Gordon and Doris Matson, a very prolific Midwestern couple.

2.) From the late 60's thru the 70's i made my living as a Go-Go dancer in San Diego. something my friends like to point out when i'm noticed on the dance floor.

3.) I collect cookbooks i have over 500 in my collection I pick them up at thrift stores and yard sales. if i have one you want just ask and it's yours.

4.)I can't stand it when people pronounce the "T" in often, or the "S" in Des Monies

5.) If i could call any address in the world home it would be the Del Coronado Hotel, Coronado Island, Ca.

6.) My favorite holiday is Mothers Day. it doesn't pretend to be anything it's not and it's all about Me.

7.) I still miss the TV show Home Front (mid 80's). Any show i get hooked on is doomed for the dumpster. so be on guard fans of Army wife's, lipstick jungle and the closer.

dinner tonight is a stirfry mix of red peppers (they were 3 for 2.00 dollars at hy-vee) mushrooms (.99cents at aldis) onions (.49 cents a lb. at fareway) tomatoes ( stright for our deck garden) and chicken ( retrived from the basement freezer) all prepared in a hugh castiron pan there will be plenty and your welcome to join us.
